About me

Madlen Poguntke

"Follow your dreams: They know the way!"
Flautist Madlen Poguntke began flute lessons at the age of five. Prizes at the "Jugend musiziert" competition followed, further fueling her desire to pursue music professionally. Performances in school orchestras, brass bands, and as a soloist paved the way for her music studies in Regensburg. At the University of Catholic Church Music and Music Education, she began her Bachelor of Music degree with a major in flute, graduating in 2017 with a perfect 1.0 grade. She simultaneously completed her teacher training for secondary schools, passing her first state examination at the same time. It was during this period that she also discovered her passion for playing the piano.

Further studies followed, including masterclasses with Prof. Dr. Eckart Haupt, the Freiburg Ensemble Academy,Barthold Kuijken (Belgium), Mario Caroli (Italy), Daniel Kessner (America), Jonathan Sells (England), Bertrand Cuiller (France) and many more rounded out the selection.

Concerts and CD recordings took her to places including the New Palace in Stuttgart and the Kurtheater in Bad Kissingen, to the Olympic Hall and she has performed at the Philharmonie Gasteig in Munich, the Audimax and Theater in Regensburg, and in Freiburg and Würzburg. Internationally, she works in England, Portugal, Canada, South Korea, and New Zealand.

The flautist also uses her music to support charity projects: these include "Himbisa Mukama" for school construction in Uganda, benefit concerts in Munich for the "People for People, Karlheinz Böhm's Ethiopia Aid" foundation, in Regensburg for children's hospitals in Eastern Bavaria and the Guardian Angel fundraising gala in Leipzig, which supports people with cystic fibrosis.

She is actively involved in transcultural research on artificial intelligence in music education and on female composers. Furthermore, she contributes her artistic practice to the band project Sound Trek, through which she learned to play the traditional Korean flute, the Daegeum.
